I recommend two famous festivals. One is theAomori Nebuta Matsuri.Nebuta are huge lantern floats depicting brave warriors ormythical figures. People push the floats through the streets ofAomori city. They’re really dynamic and impressive! Hundredsof dancers called “haneto” accompany the floats. The hanetowear colorful traditional costumes with “lucky” bells attached.There are also teams of taiko drummers and flute players.The festival is very popular with both Japanese and peoplefrom other countries. It’s a participatory festival?basicallyanyone can join the dancing as long as they wear the traditionalhaneto costume, which can be purchased or rented in storesaround Aomori.The Aomori Nebuta Matsuri is held every year from the 2ndto the 7th of August.
